Our Charity Blanket
Support two incredible Yorkshire charities with our new collection, raising funds for Weston Park Cancer Charity and Barnsley Hospice.
Vicky's Story
On 5 July 2025, Vicky was diagnosed with stage 4 stomach cancer following a colonoscopy after experiencing mild symptoms, including indigestion, a reduced appetite, slight weight loss and abdominal
discomfort. She was given a prognosis of 6–12 months without treatment.
The diagnosis came as a huge shock to everyone who knows and loves Vicky. She had always been incredibly fit, active and healthy, making the news even more difficult to comprehend.
Vicky began chemotherapy at Weston Park Cancer Centre, Sheffield, receiving treatment every three weeks over several months.
Thankfully, she responded exceptionally well to chemotherapy, and her cancer is
now stable. This positive outcome has allowed her to take a break from treatment while continuing with regular scans to monitor her condition.
Turning a Challenge into Hope
One year after Vicky's diagnosis, we wanted to create something meaningful that could help others while raising awareness and supporting our charity. That's how our charity blankets were born.
Designed by Vicky in the charity's colours, each blanket is intended to provide warmth, comfort and a reminder that no one faces life's toughest moments alone. Whether gifted to someone undergoing treatment for a life-limiting illness or to a family grieving the loss of a loved one, we hope every blanket feels like a warm hug when it's needed most.
The design is deeply personal to Vicky. The two stripes represent the strength and courage of those fighting illnesses such as cancer—true warrior stripes. Inspired by her love of family holidays by the seaside, she combined this with a subtle nautical theme and finished the design with her favourite classic herringbone pattern.
Our charity blankets launch on 5 July 2026, exactly one year after Vicky's diagnosis. They celebrate her incredible resilience, determination and positive spirit, while helping us raise vital funds, spread awareness and bring comfort to others facing their own journey. We hope you use your blanket to hug loved ones close and seize the day with a picnic.
Supporting
Weston Park Cancer Charity
Following her diagnosis, Vicky was referred to Weston Park Cancer Centre in Sheffield, where she came under the care of her
oncologist, Dr Alex Burnett, alongside the dedicated Macmillan nursing team.
At Weston Park, Vicky has received chemotherapy, PICC line care, regular blood tests and scans, all delivered by compassionate staff who have gone above and beyond to support her throughout her treatment.
Alongside the exceptional medical care provided by the hospital, we discovered the incredible work of Weston Park Cancer Charity.
The charity supports patients and their families in many ways, funding vital cancer research, supporting clinical trials, providing travel assistance to and from appointments, and offering complementary therapies, counselling and practical support to help people manage the physical, emotional and financial challenges of a cancer diagnosis.
The expertise, care and treatment Vicky has received at Weston Park have played a vital role in helping her far exceed her original
prognosis. Today, she is living with stable stage 4 stomach cancer—a testament
to both her determination and the outstanding care she has received.
We are incredibly grateful to everyone at Weston Park Cancer Centre and Weston Park Cancer Charity for the difference they have made to Vicky's journey, and we hope to help raise awareness of the life-changing work they continue to do for so many families.
Supporting
Barnsley Hospice
Following a visit to the Barnsley Hospice Retail Hub, Vicky met a member of staff who introduced her to the wide range of support services available through Barnsley Hospice from the moment of diagnosis.
Since then, Vicky has received invaluable counselling to help her come to terms with her terminal diagnosis, along with complementary therapies such as massage to ease stress and relieve the neuropathy caused by chemotherapy. The hospice also provides support for family members, recognising that a cancer diagnosis affects loved ones as well as the person receiving treatment.
We want to help raise awareness of the incredible work Barnsley Hospice does. Many people think of a hospice as a place that only provides palliative or end-of-life care, but it offers so much more. From the day of diagnosis, the hospice is there to provide emotional support, practical guidance and therapeutic care for patients and their families.
Around two-thirds of Barnsley Hospice's running costs are funded through the generosity of donations and fundraising. By supporting our charity blankets, you're also helping us give something back to a service that has made such a positive difference to Vicky and our family. Together, we hope
to help ensure Barnsley Hospice can continue providing its invaluable care and support for others who need it most.
